What changes are underway at The Woman's Place? |
 |
Both Dr. Hentzen Page and Dr. Sawchak have a passion for women's healthcare, and have pursued the latest
advancements to the benefit of their patients. After 10 years of providing obstetrics and gynecology care to patients,
we have decided to phase out obstetrics. This will allow us to dedicate our practice to continued innovation in the field
of gynecology and bring our patients the latest research, diagnosis and treatments. Although we will eventually cease
offering obstetrics care, we will continue to provide pre-pregnancy consultation for those of you planning to grow your
family in the future. |
 |
Why is The Woman's Place changing its practice? |
 |
Although both center on women's health, obstetrics and gynecology place very different demands on a physician.
Pregnancy, pre-natal care and delivery - Obstetrics - create immediate and unpredictable needs during a finite time
period in a woman's life. Gynecology encompasses every woman throughout her entire life. As physicians, we know
that the more history we have with a patient, the better able we are to positively impact her health. And the more
comfortable a patient is, the more likely she'll be to visit the doctor regularly, a major factor in prevention, early
diagnosis and treatment. Our decision to specialize is an opportunity to have a more long-term impact on a patient's
health, and showcase more of the latest advancements. |
 |
If I'm pregnant and currently under the care of Dr. Sawchak or Dr. Hentzen Page, how will this change affect me? |
 | Very little. A number of our patients are pregnant and receiving prenatal care from us, and their needs will continue
to be our priority through delivery. After delivery, we hope that you will remain a patient of our gynecology practice
and benefit from the industry advancements we'll be offering. There is so much progress in the field of gynecology,
and we look forward to bringing it to our patients. |
 |
What if I am anticipating a future pregnancy? How does the change affect me? |
 | We hope that you will continue to let us serve your gynecological needs, and your early pregnancy care will continue
at The Woman's Place. In the event of a future pregnancy, Dr. Sawchak or Dr. Hentzen Page will work with you to discuss
your best options for pregnancy care. |
 |
How will existing gynecology patients of Dr. Sawchak or Dr. Hentzen Page be affected? |
 | Our gynecology patients will notice positive changes such as increased capabilities and newer technologies to choose
from. It is our goal to continue providing the most progressive and responsive gynecological services to the women we
serve. While the practice of obstetrics is deeply rewarding, the demands are immediate and unpredictable. As we phase
out those responsibilities, we will spend more time on education and innovation. |
 |
When will the changes take place? |
 | Effective immediately, we will not be accepting new obstetrics patients. Eventually, as we fulfill the needs of existing
patients, we will no longer be delivering babies. We don't have a firm deadline at this time but the transition will be
completed in 2009. We want to emphasize, the needs of our patients come first and we will support our current
obstetrics patients through delivery.
|
 | What can I expect if I have a new OB visit scheduled, but have not been seen yet for that appointment? |
 | The providers at TWP would encourage you to keep this appointment as scheduled. |
 | Are there any future plans to return to obstetrics?
|
 | We are very excited to develop our specialty in gynecology. We anticipate expanding our services and in order to do that it will require more time to dedicate to only gynecology services. At this time, we do not see obstetrics in our future. |
 | What do you mean by being at the forefront of our specialty?
|
 | Obstetricians-gynecologists are called upon to learn and integrate an ever-expanding body of knowledge. With frequent and unscheduled demands on their time in order to provide obstetric services, many providers are recognizing that they may provide a higher level of service by concentrating in one area. At some hospitals, physicians may limit their practice to just providing labor and delivery services while others may limit their practice to providing superb prenatal care in their office. We believe that our level of service can excel by focusing on gynecologic practice. |
 | What other areas might you develop in your new practice?
|
 | We will continue to provide advanced gynecologic surgeries, especially minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Having the opportunity to pursue further studies in the area of gynecology will undoubtedly open new opportunities that will be of benefit to our patients. At this time, we are open to any area which will provide desired services to our patients. We appreciate input from patients who identify areas of care that would be important to them. |
 | Will I see any changes during my office visit?
|
 |
We hope to make significant changes to improve office flow and provide our services more efficiently. We recognize the potential benefits of the electronic medical record and we believe we can maximize its potential. This should translate into a simpler process and more timely service for you. With fewer unscheduled interruptions as occurs with deliveries, this will also help our office to function more smoothly. |
